Hi...

I just had the sweetest experience!  My friend with whom I usually enjoy watching the ducks at “our” pond

had company today, so we did not meet at "our" pond as usual, so I went by myself later than "our" "usual", hoping for others to come; but I was alone.

I had not been able to find our usual "family" of about 32 ducks anywhere on the grounds; but they hide well when the weather is hot, which it was.

I enjoyed the quiet solitude of the evening's "magic" - then was pleased as the Duck Tribe arrived as dusk was darkening...

They went to the central lawn and dug for whatever it is they dig for!!  I noted two ducks on the edge of the group who appeared to be "guarding" the clan…

However....that was not what they were doing.

Some of you have heard me tell about a lone duck who seems "abandoned" and goes among the ponds, always alone, and appearing to be searching for its "lost family"...       "She" also doesn't usually go to roost for the night until the others have chosen their preferred location…

I have imagined - and decided - this likely is the duck I had observed who had been abandoned by its mother some time ago.

Someone communicated that another mother duck had included it in her flock.

As the evening got darker the two "watchers" saw this lone duck approaching!

I was fearful they were "watching" in order to scare the loner away.

No!!  They brought her between them and  escorted the lone duck to join the rest!!

Such a special end to a very nice day otherwise as well.

Good night now, Claudia T
