Memoirs of Claudia Jane

AUGUST 2025

I WANT TO COMMENCE BY INTRODUCING THE CURRENT CHAPTER IN MY JOURNEY OF LIFE:

IN APRIL

I MOVED FROM SAN DIEGO INTO

A 1 BEDROOM APARTMENT IN AN ENCLOSED INDEPENDENT SENIOR LIVING APARTMENT COMPLEX ON THE NORTH SIDE OF SACRAMENTO.

I realize you don't "need to know:”

all these details

But I know your loving hearts are glad to know.

I have been moved into

Carmichael, CA 95608

for 3 months now.

I feel more and more that I have

a "home of my own" for the first time.

I  admit to enjoying getting to do things my way!

I very much enjoy awakening each

morning to this lovely, comfortable,

 and comforting environment.

I love to commence my day with hours of sitting on my bed looking out this window

while connecting with different ones of you.

The two quilts were made in particular

for my comfort and sent by two fellow survivors - the hearts from

Australia

the 2nd filled with stitches in love from Massachusetts.

Can you make out the pond beyond the pavilion's chairs in the 3rd picture?

  Often there are ducks,..

We enjoy watching the ducklings grow!!

They have no fear of people.

Sometimes there are squirrels playing tag at my apartment,

and two women bring their dogs

for daily exercise.

And the view from the living room.

I have been invited to conduct a bible study with two people Saturday mornings, in the smaller library on the map.

Please find #175 belove so you

Can “see” how ideally my apartment is “situated” for privacy, quietness -

and walking corridors with opportunity to meet and visit among us aging people

who mostly live alone as I do.

Striking up conversations is easy

since all of us love to have someone listen to our stories of a lifetime of experiences.

I am gradually getting more acquainted with a few of the residents.

There are some "activities",

although this is not a "care" facility

on any level:

It is an apartment complex -

with “left over” “advantages” from the days when it was built for assisted living, for instance, the corridors creating a safe inside environment and opportunity for visiting…

It was originally built in the 70's and the

 Activity Director has been retained.

I have attended a few of the activities in order to meet people;

and I am impressed with the respectful and friendly manner of the residents.

There even was a wedding reception held for some "newly weds"!!

Can’t finish up before sharing some of the delightful duck pictures.

ree

Can you find the 4 bodies in what looks like 1?  There also is usually a “loner”, as is the one to the right of the 4.
